Chiltern Meanders

  A 3 mile circular walk on the edge of Reading. I'd never heard of the folly till Tony came across this walk on Komoot. Walked with Tony 2nd July 21 Map of route

A 3 mile circular walk starting at the end of The Warren in Reading. This walk was slightly disappointing as the paths run between fences so there was no where to sit down and drink our coffee. The signs in the woodland made it very clear that we would not be welcome. However it is a pleasant enough walk, convenient to get to. map of route   Mapeldurham House in the distance

A short local walk, through this pretty park, hidden away behind Hemdean Road. Starting from Caversham bridge. We did this walk in glorious April sunshine. The park is lovely for a picnic or get a coffee in Caversham.  Map of route Walked with Tony 24/04/2021

  2.5 mile (in total) there-and-back walk to Stoke Row where we enjoyed a sausage baguette from Stoke Row Stores, sitting on the bench by Maharaja's well.  The Bluebells were just starting to come out when we did this walk - another week or two and it will be looking glorious. There were some interesting entries in the scarecrow trail. A mixture of dirt paths and tarmac.   2 mile walk A mixture of mud paths and tarmac. 2 1/2 Mile Walk Footpaths are easy to follow. An on-road section on a quiet lane. Parking: Checkendon Church (small public car park). Coordinates 51.542006, -1.044476 Bus: The Southern tip of the route is about half a mile from Woodcote on the X40 route - check Thames Travel website. At the southern tip of the route is the 'Nuba Survival'. A striking, greater than life size, sculpture of 2 skeletons embracing. It stands by a collapsed barn in a field. 2 mile walk Mainly way-marked by white arrows on the trees. A bit muddy in March, but very passable in walking boots.
